February

February:  we went to the circus!  Yes, an adult couple with grown kids can enjoy that as a fun evening out!  (At least this couple can!)   I loved the lights, colors, and animals– though I got a little freaked out when I thought about what it must have taken to train tigers to do the things they did.   We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary:  with a house full of college kids visiting!  Lots of work.  A Child Safety and Protection Conference, leading to a new area of training and focus for my work.  And, after almost a year in the house, we finally got some pictures up on the walls!

January

January was a month of cold weather, warm fireplace, deer in the backyard.  Joey was with us for the first few days of January, and Jacob was with us until the 7th.  It got VERY quiet when they both left!  I increased my work in the office from two days per week to three… it seems like a quite an increase in terms of how tired I feel!  But there’s lots of interesting work to be done, and it seems like a lot of what I’ve learned over the past years can be useful in training new workers… so it’s worth all the tiredness!

December

  • our first December in our Charlotte home.
  •  decorations and lights  in our neighborhood, beginning the day after Thanksgiving and increasing daily.
  •  the scent of our Frasier fir fresh from the mountains of North Carolina
  • Ramses the kitten wrestling with the tree. pulling off the lights and unplugging them, diving up to remove ornaments, a skilled and determined wild kitten!
  • Dave’s trip to Korea
  • cranberry scones with friends
  • warm fires in our newly-refreshed fireplace, a cozy living-room on chilly evenings
  • wonderful times with the family all together over Christmas break!
  • some photos from the month here

November

November was the month of beautiful autumn colors in our yard.  It was the month of Thanksgiving, with 15 guests staying with us, helping us celebrate and enjoying a reunion.

View a few of my photos from November here.  And assorted photos from our Thanksgiving weekend here!

October

October is the month where I worked about 20 hours per week at SIM.  Adjusting back to part time work after 27 years mostly “at home” is going well– but I’m not getting everything done that I’d like!  It was also the month when we got to go to Myrtle Beach with our local church for their first ever marriage retreat!   For some photo highlights of the month (many less than usual!)  click here!  And if you’re in the mood to see a few pics from our weekend at Myrtle Beach, they are here.
